So, we recently ran a poll with US shoppers to see how they are paying for stuff online, especially with all the buzz around Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options. It turns out that credit and debit cards are still king, with 78.26% of people using cards like Visa, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Chase for their online purchases. About 19.57% went for fast checkout options like PayPal or ShopPay, and just 2.17% are using BNPL services like Klarna, Affirm, or AfterPay.

When we asked about BNPL specifically, PayPal was the big winner, with 65.91% of folks saying they used it in the last year. Affirm, Klarna, and AfterPay each got 11.36%, while other BNPL options like ChargeAfter, Splitit, and Sezzle were basically invisible in the results.

As for missed payments, 13.16% admitted they've dropped the ball on BNPL payments. But only 10.53% said they got contacted by collections agencies for unpaid stuff, while the majority (81.58%) didn't have any drama with payments.

BNPL is growing, but good old? credit and debit cards are still the go-to for most online shoppers. And most BNPL users are on top of their payments, with only a few running into issues.
